How can I start the new year at my nursery by ensuring we are focused and working well as a team?
June O'Sullivan: Begin by outlining what you hope to achieve over the year. Engage your staff and get them to help refresh your vision. Check everyone is clear about where they fit into the plan. For example, if your ambition is to get an outstanding Ofsted rating then make sure you have the support of your team and everyone knows what they need to do.
This is a good time to revisit the values of the organisation. Do staff use them to influence the way things are done in practice? Staff often sign up to broad value statements but have little idea about their responsibility to ensure these values are embedded in the daily routine.
