
Janet Daby has been MP for the south east London ward of Lewisham East since 2018.
A former social worker with more than 15 years’ experience in the sector, Daby has worked in foster care, looked-after children, assessment and referral teams as well carrying out social work consultancy.
During her political career, Daby has held the roles of shadow youth justice minister, shadow minister for women and equalities and shadow minister for housing, communities and local government.
Since the general election in May, Daby has overseen the publication of statutory guidance for local authorities on the use of agency social workers and new guidance for supporting kinship carers.
