
The fallout between the National Citizen Service (NCS) Trust and one of its regional delivery partners, The Challenge, has highlighted the importance IT systems play in protecting young people's details.
The NCS last month announced it would not renew its contract with The Challenge, which delivered NCS in London, the South East and the West Midlands, when the nine regional delivery partner contracts come up for renewal next year.
One reason it gave for parting with one of its longest-serving providers was because it had "failed to reach agreement over a shared IT system". Another, it added, was because 4,000 young people had been "let down" by The Challenge this summer due to not being allocated a place on their chosen programme.
