Poverty of pocket, poverty of thought

Recession seems to be producing a slew of inspiring articles on what it means for a child to grow up in poverty. Caitlin Moran's piece in the Times was excellent on how poverty deprives young people of choice. Your life is never going to be any different...there's no break on the horizon. It's unremitting. And now we have Mary O'Hara in the Guardian who says 'don't ever think a poor child doesn't know they're poor'. She also manages to confound many of the often trotted out cliches about buying on credit. The feature's here http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2011/dec/02/george-osborne-budget-poverty.
