The Wicked Planners, a group of girls from Newcastle upon Tyne, have been named as winners in a competition that gave young people the opportunity to tell the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister how they should be involved in policy decisions that affect them. The girls, aged between nine and 14 and from the Voices project, organised a conference for children to have their say about the issues affecting their community. They met diversity minister Yvette Cooper at an event in London last week to engage young people.
