NCB Now: The link between play and health

Friday, March 2, 2012

Play England believes that play can make an invaluable contribution to the health and wellbeing of children and young people.

On 20 March, it will join the British Heart Foundation, Playwork Partnerships and the University of Gloucestershire to host a play and health seminar. The seminar will bring together academic research and cases of best practice to highlight just how beneficial play can be for the health of children and young people.

Showcasing examples of inspirational play projects from around the country, the seminar will provide an excellent opportunity for those wishing to hear up-to-date information on the current changes in the health service and present government agenda relating to play and health, as well as considerations of the commissioning process for play providers and the opportunity to network with a range of professionals, experts and practitioners in the field.

Guest speakers include Dr Len Almond FRSA (British Heart Foundation), Dr Lindsey Kilgour, Dr Diane Crone, Dr Nic Matthews (University of Gloucestershire) and one of the UK’s leading thinkers on childhood, Tim Gill.
