NCB Now: Early Support Trust sets out priorities

Friday, February 3, 2012

The Early Support Trust Consortium, based at NCB, is working to extend early support to children and young people of all ages.

Priorities for the year ahead include: developing the early support approach for use further up the age range to include older children and young people; deliver key worker training for professionals; and develop materials for use with older children.

The consortium, comprising more than 50 voluntary, community and private sector organisations, was awarded a Department for Education contract in November of last year to extend the remit of early support, in order to help parents from the moment their child is diagnosed, particularly if they are identified as having severe or complex difficulties.

Key to the early support approach is the provision of key workers so that all families have support and advice on their particular circumstances.
