The Community Investment Fund is managed by Social and Sustainable Capital, a fund-management firm founded by former bankers Ben Rick and Adam Knight. Part-financed by the Social Investment Business Foundation and Big Society Capital, it provides loans and equity to community-based social enterprises and charities in England.
How much is available?
A total of £20m is available and the fund expects to invest around £5m a year made up of individual grants of between £250,000 and £1m. The fund aims to improve the quality of life of local individuals, particularly those who are vulnerable and disadvantaged.
It will focus on organisations providing children's services, health and social care, education, and training and employment support.
What will it fund?
Investment is intended to help community-based, locally led organisations which are providing essential support and services to improve the wellbeing of local residents, developing the local economy and creating positive social change from within the community.
To be eligible for investment an organisation must demonstrate that it is a community-led social sector organisation with a neighbourhood focus; has operations in England; has a clear social mission with significant measurable, direct outcomes; has strong management with proven capability to deliver; has a robust business plan and financial projections; can clearly demonstrate how investment repayment will be made and has good corporate governance.
When is the deadline? There is no deadline.
