Sexual health: Scouts to run sex education classes

The Scout Association is to run sex education sessions for the first time in its history.
The organisation has developed a guidance document on running sexual health sessions. It aims to help young people develop the confidence to resist peer pressure to become sexually active until they are ready.
Suggested activities for Scout groups include discussions about different religious beliefs regarding sex and organising "how to say no" role plays.
Dr Karla Blee, 25, a junior doctor and trustee on the Avon County Scouts Executive who helped draft the guidance, said: "Half of teenagers say they do not use contraception so it is absolutely right that the Scout Association gives its young people the information they need to stay safe."
