Peterborough joins up social services

Tuesday, August 26, 2008

Peterborough City Council is combining its children's social care service teams to create a "one stop shop".

The council is moving teams from multiple sites throughout the city to provide more central services for vulnerable children and young people.

The move will allow all teams to take a more joined-up approach and ensure they provide the best possible service. Services moving include the referral and assessment team, the children in need team and the adoption team.

Maureen Phillips, Peterborough City Council's assistant director for families and communities, said: "This will provide better services for vulnerable children and allow service users to access them in one building."
