London youth get say on local issues

Young people in London who want to change their communities are being urged to join a new forum.
The Citizenship Foundation is recruiting young people aged 14 to 25 to join its Youth Act Graduate Council, which will launch in July. The forum will allow young people to choose and campaign on issues that matter to everyone in the capital - not just young people.
The council will form part of the foundation's existing Youth Act programme, which helps young people who are living in disadvantaged areas to recognise social injustice and gain the skills and confidence needed to change their communities for the better.
Ade Sofola, director of Youth Act, said it was a chance for young people to get involved in the wider political agenda.
"It's not just young people talking about young people's issues," she said. "For example. there is an interplay for adults to talk about youth justice but also for young people to talk about adult justice."
