Tributes have been paid to the chief executive of children’s charity TwentyTwenty Aimi McCaffery, who died after being hit by a car while on a morning run.
The 46-year-old mother-of-two's death, which took place on Sunday May 15, is being investigated by Nottinghamshire Police.
McCaffery had been chief executive of TwentyTwenty for the last two years.
The charity runs the Love4Life youth work programme, which offers relationship and sex education to young people in areas of deprivation in Leicestershire.
Love4Life was nominated for the CYP Now awards, in the children and young people’s charity category in 2021 and for the health and wellbeing award in 2015.
The charity says that it has “lost a much-loved, inspirational and dedicated leader”.

“Words cannot adequately express our shock at this news. Aimi was a wonderful person, a joy to know and work with,” said TwentyTwenty chair Jonathan Kerry.
“She has been the driving force behind the growth of Love4Life in the past two years and was full of ideas for the future.
“She has built a wonderful and gifted team and helped to stabilise our finances. Aimi was eager to learn and establish new networks, all so that we could do more to support the young people in our local communities.”
A statement from staff at the charity said: “Aimi was an outstanding leader, manager, but also friend. She inspired us, cared for us, made us laugh, and nothing was ever too much trouble for her. Her deep passion for providing support for the young people in our communities was inspirational and will be her legacy.
“She genuinely cared for all her employees and was our biggest cheerleader. We will never be able to replace the hole she has left in so many people’s lives, but we will carry her enthusiasm, dedication, values and care with us in her memory.
“Our thoughts are with her family at this dreadful time.”
Others to pay tribute to McCaffery include hospice chief executive Caroline Beech who attended a leadership course with her recently. “It was obvious that she was a great leader and had so much more to give,” she said.
Love4Life programme manager Bethan Stanyon has been appointed interim chief executive at TwentyTwenty.
