Children’s social care group Bryn Melyn Care has been acquired by the Outcomes First Group.
Bryn Melyn Care (BMC) was bought from its founder Brendan McNutt and three minor shareholders earlier this month, the Outcomes First Group said.
BMC delivers a portfolio of specialist services, for young people aged seven to 18, from crisis and assessment placements, through to long-term placements and preparation for independent living.

This acquisition extends Outcomes First Group’s portfolio by 27 specialist residential care homes; one independent day school for children in Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 5; one specialist home for those with learning disabilities, autism and associated behavioural needs; and two specialist residential schools.
Outcomes First Group provides individually tailored support plans for each child and young person in their care across England, its website says.
Richard Power, managing director for Outcomes First Group Education and Residential division added, “I am delighted to welcome the Bryn Melyn Care team into our group. Their excellent reputation and their approach fits very well with our own proposition and vision of building incredible futures for vulnerable children and young adults in the UK by empowering them to be happy and make their way in the world. Throughout our journey, we have joined forces with many established specialist schools and residential care homes; Bryn Melyn is a particularly exciting addition to our Outcomes First Group family.”
Bob Yetzes, chief executive of BMC added: “We are very pleased to be joining Outcomes First Group, an organisation whose values and vision mirrors our own. Together we will make an even greater difference to the lives of the vulnerable children we educate and care for.”.
BMC homes and school will continue to operate under their existing Ofsted registrations.
Commenting on the acquisition, Andrew Rome, director of Revolution Consulting said: “Despite the impact of Coronavirus the trend of the largest children’s services providers continuing to grow through acquisitions is evidenced by this transaction.
"This trend was evident in our report for the Local Government Association in February 2020, and we are aware that the owners of other sizeable providers are also currently looking to sell their interests.”
