The council’s current operations director of services for young people Jo Fisher will take up the role in September replacing Jenny Coles, former Association of Directors of Children’s Services.

Before working as operations director at the council, Fisher previously worked as service director (prevention and early intervention) at Luton Borough Council.

She has also held positions at Action for Children, Tower Hamlets Primary Care Trust and Newham Social Services.

Councillor Richard Roberts, leader of the council said: “We are delighted that Jo Fisher will be our new director of children’s services.

“Jo brings a wealth of experience to the role, and will continue our clear commitment to supporting children, young people and families across Hertfordshire to ensure they have the very best start in life.

“Children’s social care services play a key role in protecting the most vulnerable in our communities, and I have no doubt that Jo’s leadership will help us take important steps forward in this crucial work.”
