Organisations working with children and young people have been invited to contribute to a new government strategy that will encompass elements of youth work and social action.
The civil society strategy, launched by civil society minister Tracey Crouch in November, is intended to provide an opportunity to explore ways to build new partnerships within and between sectors and communities.
The government said it wants the strategy to, among other things, support young people to play an active role in building a stronger society.
The engagement exercise is open for anyone to share their opinions, experiences and feedback over the next 12 weeks.
Crouch said: "The civil society sector is incredible and works hard to deliver so much for people and communities. I want to bring these individuals and organisations together even more to improve communities and help tackle the everyday challenges that people face."
"The strategy will be important in our mission to build a fairer society and help secure a better future for the next generation. I encourage everyone with an interest in this important area to come forward and make their voices heard."
The government had previously said it would develop a specific youth policy statement to give "a clear narrative and vision" for how to help young people.
It was announced by former youth minister Rob Wilson in November 2016, but was later dropped.
The consultation runs until 22 May 2018.
