The Jon Egging Trust (JET) has worked alongside the Royal Airforce Aerobatic Team to produce a digital hub centred around teamwork, leadership, communication and resilience in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The hub, called JET Inspires, offers behind-the-scenes films that explore how the skills and techniques used by the Red Arrows to deliver breathtaking displays can be translated into the classroom and youth work settings.

Each video is accompanied by free-to-download lesson plans, activities and resources aligned to Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 of the PSHE National Curriculum.

Dr Emma Egging, chief executive of JET, said: “As a charity, we work with schools and youth organisations to support young people who may be struggling to stay motivated and focused at school, often because of the life challenges they’ve faced.

“When the pandemic hit we were suddenly unable to support our students face-to-face so we knew we needed to take an innovative approach to reaching out to existing students as well as expanding our reach to new schools.”

David Montenegro, officer commanding the Red Arrows and JET trustee, added: “One of the key aims of the Red Arrows is to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds, through a demonstration of teamwork.

“This is why collaborating with JET’s education programmes has been so imperative to the team. I hope that the videos, and seeing our team going about their work and activities, serve as inspiration to young people and help to give them the means to develop and build the skills and self-confidence they are capable of.”

During the official launch of JET Inspired at RAF Scampton, JET students took part in a series of leadership activities with the Red Arrows team, before having the opportunity to watch a full practice of their new 2021 display.
