Barnardo's worker set to become children's commissioner in Scotland

Tam Baillie, policy director for Barnardo's Scotland, will become the second Commissioner for Children and Young People in Scotland if the Scottish Parliament approves his nomination this week.
Baillie, who is currently chair of the Scottish Alliance for Children's Rights, would take up his role in the middle of May. Seventeen children and young people were involved in nominating Baillie.
Martin Crewe, director of Barnardo's Scotland, said: "I am delighted that Tam is being recommended as the next Children's Commissioner for Scotland. Tam has always been a passionate advocate for children and young people, both in his role with us and as chair of the Scottish Alliance for Children's Rights. I am sure he will be an excellent appointment."
The current commissioner, Kathleen Marshall, announced last year that she would not seek reappointment when her term comes to an end this month.
