Srabani Sen has left her post as chief executive of the British Association for Adoption and Fostering (BAAF) after less than six months in charge, it has emerged.
Sen, former chief executive of Contact a Family and, before that, Alcohol Concern, joined BAAF in December 2013, but was replaced at the helm by Barbara Hutchinson, who was appointed interim chief executive at the end of last month.
“After a great deal of thought, I have decided to move on from BAAF," a statement from Sen, released to CYP Now by BAAF, said.
“This has been a very difficult decision to arrive at. I have decided to pursue exciting opportunities that have emerged recently.”
CYP Now understands that Sen has set up her own agency to provide services to not-for-profit organisations.
Sen’s interim replacement Hutchinson has come out of retirement to take on the role. She initially joined BAAF in 1989 as a trainer consultant and went on to become BAAF’s director of central and Northern England services, head of training and deputy chief executive. She previously served as interim chief executive at BAAF in 2006.
Anthony Douglas, chair of BAAF, said: “BAAF wishes Srabani all the best with her future endeavours and we look forward to working with Barbara Hutchinson once again, who brings over 35 years’ experience of social work and social work management with children and families.”
A BAAF spokesman said the organisation hopes to make a permanent appointment before the end of the year.
