Sustainable and special grants for community groups, local authorities and nominated families
Funding There are no specific funding brackets.
Funder This charity was set up in 1981 as a joint project between CSV Clyde Action and Radio Clyde. However, West Sound and South West Sound radio stations are also now on board. The charity supports work in 13 areas: Inverclyde; Argyll and Bute; Dumfries and Galloway; East Ayrshire; South Ayrshire; North Ayrshire; East Dunbartonshire; West Dunbartonshire; Renfrewshire; East Renfrewshire; Glasgow; North Lanarkshire; and South Lanarkshire.
Aim The charity has three main areas of giving. Sustainable grants are given over a period of up to three years and are aimed at long-term projects. The charity also gives special grants, which are one-off grants for specific purchases. The Christmas appeal is the charity's main event and the money raised is used to ensure children in disadvantaged families can enjoy the holiday period.
Who can apply? For the Christmas appeal, people such as members of the clergy and social workers can put families forward. The money is given to these "sponsors" to ensure it is spent on the children. The other grants are aimed at projects and organisations such as local authorities or community groups.
