Opinion: If I were in charge of ... Time - Dan Willetts, 14

Tuesday, September 4, 2007

Exams always seem to drag on when you have finished the paper, but if you still have several pages to go, time seems to get faster.

If I were in charge of time, I would make the good times last longer and the boring times go quicker. I don't like PE, so that would go fast for me.

If everybody was more efficient, they would have more spare time. So you can have more fun because you have done the boring stuff first. I couldn't necessarily control time, but we can be in charge of our time. Diaries, calendars and watches all help us keep track of time. I think it is important to keep to a schedule. That way you are on time for everything and you can see when you get a chance to have a sit down and a cup of tea.

At this year's UK Youth Parliament annual sitting, we had a very tight schedule. But some activities ran over because we were having a good time and didn't look at our watches.

Why put off until tomorrow what you can do today? If you do it today and you like it, you can do it again tomorrow.

- Dan is deputy member of Youth Parliament for Dudley, West Midlands.
