Councils consulted on finance settlement

Local authorities are invited to take part in a government consultation on its proposed approach to next year's finance settlement.

The consultation follows Chancellor Sajid Javid's recent Spending Round announcement

The four-week consultation, launched by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, follows headline figures announced in the Chancellor's recent Spending Round for 2020-21.

Under the proposals, an estimated real terms increase of £2.9 billion or 4.3 per cent, would include £1.5bn of additional funding for adult and children's social care.

The consultation closes on 31 October 2019.
