THE NATIONAL YOUTH AGENCY: Training opportunities with Euro<26programme.

Wednesday, February 12, 2003

The National Youth Agency's Euro<26 card programme in England is being re-launched and our vision for the programme is to promote opportunities for young people to travel and to become more active members of their communities.

The card is also a discount card and we are looking for organisations to participate in training for young people interested in recruiting discounts in their local area.

Evidence from a similar programme run in Wales has shown there is real benefit for young people in taking on this role for themselves.

The training day for prospective discount recruiters will include:

- Thinking about ourselves as customers and particularly as young customers;

- Challenging traditionally-held views of young people;

- Marketing young people to a business manager - why should she/he want to offer a discount to young people?

- Communication skills (in person and on the phone etc);

- Group skills: planning, research, allocating work, feedback and evaluation;

- Establishing financial advantages for young people.

At this stage we are seeking expressions of interest in this training. Do you work with a group of young people who would benefit from promoting the activities if the group at a local level?

Do you have needs that would be helpfully met by securing a high street discount?
