Wednesday, January 22, 2003

The National Youth Agency has reprinted its Training Manual for Youth Workers and Youth Services on the Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001, produced on behalf of the Department for Education and Skills. The manual, which includes a CD-Rom presentation, aims to ensure that all those who have responsibility for the development of policy and the delivery of the Youth Service understand and comply with the duties of the Act. Limited copies are available free of charge on request by emailing andyh@nya.org.uk or katharinem@nya.org.uk. Work continues on a Good Practice Guide and details of availability will be announced in due course.

Other recent resources available from The Agency exploring disability and inclusion issues include Inclusion Fusion, an educational board game suitable for young people aged 13 plus, and Creating Independence and Inclusion: youth personal assistance support schemes - good practice guidelines.

Both were produced in partnership with disabled people's groups in Bristol.

Inclusion Fusion costs 29.95, and Creating Independence and Inclusion 9.50. For further details contact NYA Publications Sales on 0116 285 3709 or visit our web site at www.nya.org.uk.
