Social Care: Work placements get cash boost

Tuesday, September 18, 2007

The Family Welfare Association has won funding to increase and improve its social work student placements.

The £25,000 grant will be used to appoint a practice learning manager at the association and is part of a drive to increase social work practice placements run by the Skills for Care Learning Resource Network. Six other social care organisations have also received grants from the network.

Mike Beazley, the association's organisation development manager, said the funding will result in the creation of more opportunities for student placements and work with universities to define standards for placements. He said: "We want to work within the association to increase placements and work towards greater consistency."
