Health: Condoms promote health service use

Tuesday, September 11, 2007

Free condoms are one of the best ways to encourage boys and young men to use sexual health services, a study by Brook has found.

Speaking to CYP Now, Brook's chief executive Simon Blake said researchers found this was the best way to build the confidence of boys and young men to use services.

The full research into boys and young men's access to services will be published next month and followed by a campaign by the sexual health charity to improve services. The campaign will aim to give professionals information on how to review their services and publicity in order to get boys and young men using them.

"Practitioners have to stop and reflect upon what they are doing and see if it is in line with what young men want," said Blake.
