Deaf children in low-income families will benefit from laptop computers after a donation to the National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS).
Industrial electronics group Thales UK has given £30,000 to the charity's Equipment Fund, which will use the cash to provide laptop packages to deaf children and their families to give them access to the internet.
The computers help deaf children develop their communication skills, which could prevent them feeling isolated.
Stephen Lliffe, NDCS deputy director UK services, said: "The NDCS Equipment Fund provides deaf children with equipment they would otherwise have no or limited access to.
"The internet and online communication can enable a deaf child to interact with other deaf and hearing children on a more equal level."
