Lambeth criticised over fostering ad

Lambeth Council has come under fire for encouraging families to foster children from neighbouring Southwark.
Liberal Democrat councillors slammed a decision to run a Southwark Council advert in the Lambeth Life newsletter, which urged families to become foster carers for Southwark's looked-after children.
Councillor Roger Giess, Liberal Democrat spokesperson on children's services, demanded any future adverts be cancelled: "Lambeth Council is spending taxpayers' money on adverts that make it more difficult to find local carers for our children."
A Lambeth Council spokeswoman said: "It is common practice to advertise in other boroughs for carers and helps keep costs down for the taxpayer."
