Work on children's strategy goes down to the wire

The government's Children's Plan may have been a rush job, CYP Now has learned.

A number of sources say the plan was still being written on Monday, less than 24 hours before the 10-year strategy’s official launch.

CYP Now also understands some senior people in the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) have yet to see the document.

One senior source said the lack of a finished document at this stage was worrying. “You don’t write a 10-year plan at a minute to midnight,” said the source.

A DCSF spokesman said tweaks were still being made, adding “it always happens in this way”.
