Young carer group is facing closure

An under-threat project for young carers in Cambridgeshire could leave more than 280 young people without respite and support if it closes.
The Huntingdonshire Young Carers group was due to shut down in May this year after its lottery funding came to an end. Intervention from the local authority has kept it afloat.
However the group, set up in 2004 for young people caring for a relative, has now been reduced to a skeleton staff and just three projects.
The group is desperate to keep going until next April when it will be eligible to apply for more funding.
Project manager Lucy Francklin said:"Some young carers do cope with their responsibilities, but I am concerned about what would happen to quite a few of them if we close."
