It seems the arts club I blogged about a while back has now become a cause celebre, with The Mail ("Paint Potty! Council zealots close down under-fives' art club because children are 'too middle-class'") and The Times ("It takes more than Play-Doh to plug a deficit") covering it.

I am quite amused that the Learning Trust (which runs Hackney's education etc) did a similar survey of middle classness as MediaDad did although his was based on buggies and theirs on postcodes.  Having now been I can confirm it is an imaginative and well run resource, which, as I said before, should be built on to reach a more diverse community not dumped.

But what do you think? In economic times like this is the Learning Trust right to take tough decisions? It says: "According to data collected by the centre, 54 per cent of the children who use Paint Pots regularly live outside its catchment area. In light of this information and an increase in the number of vulnerable families requiring additional support within the centre's catchment area, a decision was made to divert funding into direct support for these families."
