Living history …

Having been members of the National Trust for many years, we recently also joined English Heritage, and we have been most impressed by the quality of display and user-friendliness.  We have just received their magazine, and, according to English Heritage, research has shown that 70% children have not visited a prehistoric or Roman site, and 20% have not visited palaces or abbeys. English Heritage offers free access to all 400 of its properties to learning groups, and free learning resources, too. So if you are linked to a school or a provider of other children’s services, check out the website and make use of this brilliant free resource. And as well as all that, they employ apprentices and promote apprenticeships; the magazine features four apprentice heritage gardeners working at Wrest Park in Bedfordshire. An excellent organisation!
