Summer activities: Authorities make progress on target

By , Wednesday 19 July 2006

The Department for Education and Skills (DfES) said this week that the initial assessment of local authorities' progress on delivering summer activities was "positive" and that they were delivering "targeted" activities.

Government offices were required to report on the progress of councils in commissioning activities earlier this month (YPN, 5-11 July, p6).

A DfES spokesman said: "The majority of responses from government offices are in and early indications are positive that local authorities will be providing targeted activities."
