Best thing I ever did: Stephanie Codling, 16, Suffolk

By , Wednesday 23 March 2005

I am the only girl in my motor mechanics class at West Suffolk College.

I have always loved watching Formula 1 racing on TV, and have always been interested in cars.

I haven't got a driving licence yet, so I have to travel to the college by bus for an hour every day. I have been at the college since September studying for my City & Guilds for three days a week, and I also work in a local garage to get some hands-on experience.

I've been learning the basics about how things work, such as the brakes, and would like to do an Apprenticeship afterwards. I think girls can be just as good mechanics as boys - we are all equal.
