The National Youth Agency: Fact of the week: statistics on youthissues

Forty-five per cent of young people aged 16 to 24 are involved in informal volunteering. Six out of 10 of those questioned said volunteering had improved their fitness. One in five said they drank less alcohol, and one in three said volunteering had led them to cut down on smoking. Six out of 10 said they had learned new skills.
