Arts beat: Tips for the top

More than 2,000 young people turned out for a youth talent show and careers fair in Peckham, south London, last week.

The Star Academy, run by regeneration project the Peckham Programme with the Peckham Youth Forum, offered 14- to 17-year-olds a chance to find out about careers in the media and arts and to show off their musical talents.

Gareth Rees, project manager at the Peckham Programme, said: "Young people get a bad press in Peckham and it's important that people know we have a great bunch of aspirational young people."
