A sports project in Cornwall that works with young people has been awarded £31,000 by the Football Foundation.

YMCA Cornwall's Sewena Sports is a multi-sports project that works in partnership with the police, schools and community groups including Eracism, a project aimed at eradicating racism in the community.

The project will encourage parents and other adults from the community to volunteer to help coaches and youth workers deliver two sessions a week.

Jo Kewn, Sewena Sports co-ordinator at YMCA Cornwall, said the funding would help develop an "exciting new project providing young people in Newlyn and Alverton with the opportunity to play football and develop their potential".
