The investigation is due to be completed in 2010 and will result in extensive guidance on how to improve the physical and emotional health of children in care. The Department of Health-ordered review will also look at the effectiveness and value for money of various methods of working with looked-after children. A major review examining how looked-after children should be cared for is to be carried out by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (Nice) and the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE).
