West Sussex youth services could lose £2m
By Joe Lepper Monday, 08 March 2010
West Sussex County Council is considering reorganising youth services and slashing £2m from its budget.
The plans would create an integrated youth support and development service, combining youth work, youth offending teams and Connexions.
A spokesman said that no decisions have yet been taken and the move is being considered as part of a council-wide cost cutting review.
He said: "All our services are being reviewed to ensure they are efficient and effectively meet changing needs. That is something taxpayers expect."
"Our youth service is very highly valued, but needs and demands have changed rapidly over recent years. We want to develop a service that is helping young people with the modern pressures they face, and ensure that we put our resources where they have the most impact."
