CWDC gives more money to fund health and social care NVQs

By Charlotte Goddard Monday, 07 December 2009

The Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC) has made an extra £600,000 available to fund NVQ qualifications in health and social care.

The funding is available for independent, private and voluntary social care organisations to help staff taking Level 3 and 4 NVQs in health and social care, and Level 4 NVQ in leadership and management before March 2010, and is in addition to £3m of training funding made available this year.

The fund is also available to foster care providers registering foster carers to undertake Level 3 NVQ in health and social care.

Brian Tytherleigh, Children's Workforce Development Council director of national programmes, urged employers to apply as soon as possible, as the funds will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis. He said: "We will continue to monitor the take-up of the funds to ensure the timely assessment of any need for further funding."

An online application form can be accessed on the Children's Workforce Development Council website.
