Plan to prevent 2012 traffickers
Thursday, 19 November 2009
The Olympics minister has pledged to put in place plans to prevent a surge in human trafficking during the London 2012 games.
Speaking in Parliament last week, Tessa Jowell said she would consult relevant stakeholders and develop an action plan to stop trafficking from tainting the games.
CYP Now reported last month that the five host Olympic boroughs were not preparing for a probable increase in child trafficking (CYP Now, 15-21 October).
Ruth Breslin, of trafficking charity Eaves, said: "Careful forward planning is required to ensure a comprehensive multi-agency approach."
