NYA issues redundancies
By Janaki Mahadevan Thursday, 02 July 2009
Staff at The National Youth Agency are facing further redundancies, following a cut in government funding.
The NYA has been forced to make the changes following the end of a grant worth £1m a year from the Department for Children, Schools and Families, which has been awarded to the agency since its inception in 1991.
Now, The NYA is awarded contracts for specific projects. Already 12 staff out of 55 have agreed to take voluntary redundancy. It is not clear whether further compulsory redundancies will be needed. Last August, seven employees were made redundant.
