Youth drinking plan not enough

Thursday, 05 February 2009

Tougher action is needed to curb underage drinking, according to an alcohol and addiction charity.

Following the publication of Sir Liam Donaldson's five-point plan for parents to prevent teenage drinking last week, charity Addaction has said it wants see more steps being taken to reach vulnerable families and young people.

Elliot Elam, Addaction spokesman, said: "The young people we see are not in a position where their parents can introduce alcohol sensibly into their lives. Where parents can't control it, we want to see facilities to support families."
