Short breaks cash boost for disabled children in Wales

In a written statement outlining developments in the DCMW campaign, minister for children Jane Hutt said the funding is for the year 2008/09. A task group made up of campaign members and senior officials is looking at ways to develop the campaign agenda.

"We are currently in the process of evaluating the funding provided last year and I have asked the task group to advise me on how funds are distributed that can build on existing examples of best practice."

She said the department is working closely with campaigners and voluntary sector organisations to deliver support materials for use on a multi-agency basis across the country.

"Early support will improve the quality, consistency and co-ordination of services for disabled children under the age of five and their families."

Hutt said work is ongoing in the provision of Changing Places, which aims to widen access to cultural venues.
