Minister welcomes over 100 more trust schools
By Nancy Rowntree Thursday, 10 April 2008
More than 100 extra schools have been accepted onto the Trust School programme, bringing the total number working towards trust status to over 390.
Schools minister Andrew Adonis welcomed 115 more schools to the programme, which will see them create charitable partnerships with universities, business and the voluntary sector.
There are now 42 trust schools up and running and a further round of applications to join the programme will take place in June with priority being given to those focusing on school improvement.
Adonis said: "Trusts are a fantastic way for schools to bring in the energy and expertise of external partners. This expression of grassroots support from schools demonstrates their readiness to embrace the programme and bring about lasting benefits for their pupils."
