Experts to assess youth volunteering

By Alison Bennett Monday, 17 December 2007

A six-month inquiry has been launched to find out why more young adults don't volunteer.

A cross party group of MPs and youth affairs experts will carry out the study, which will be lead by Baroness Morgan of Huyton.

The Morgan Inquiry will look at the benefits young people receive from volunteering, and the barriers that prevent them from doing so.

The inquiry will focus on 18- to 24-year-olds in the UK and will examine the benefits volunteering brings to both young adults and the wider community.

The panel wants to hear from anyone involved in young adult volunteering. A questionnaire to submit evidence is available on the inquiry's website.
