Youth workers given resources to promote sector

Monday, 06 September 2010

The National Youth Agency has launched a series of materials to help youth workers promote the positive impact their work has on young people's lives, in preparation for Youth Work Week in November.

The resources include a guide on to how to evidence good youth work, information on what youth work is, details on how to run a media campaign and poster, press release and case study templates.

NYA chief executive Fiona Blacke said: "Youth work needs all the recognition it can get at the moment as the pressure on local authorities' budgets continues to tighten. Across the board we need to be far more vocal in showcasing the amazing achievements youth work approaches have in transforming young lives, particularly for the most vulnerable young people in our society.

"We need people to understand that youth work interventions made now often save the public purse a fortune in the future."

Youth Work Week runs from 1 to 7 November and aims to celebrate youth workers and the achievements they make with young people.
