Pre-school facility opens on the site of Plymouth abuse nursery
By Stuart Derrick Thursday, 02 September 2010
A pre-school facility has opened on the site of Plymouth nursery Little Ted's, where nursery worker Vanessa George sexually abused and photographed young children.
Greenshoots opened today (2 September) in the grounds of Laira Green Primary School, providing education for children aged between three and five. It will have a board of trustees, including Laira Green head teacher Daisy Bailey.
The facility has been rebuilt for the new intake of children and includes improved security measures. The trust had encouraged the development of a community forum to allow parents to prepare for the opening of the new nursery. In July, parents raised £2,000 at a fun day designed to celebrate the centre’s new start.
George was jailed in December for at least seven years.
