Nursing groups offer scholarship to improve health care of children at home
By Joe Lepper Monday, 26 July 2010
The Association of British Paediatric Nurses (ABPN) and the charity WellChild have linked up to offer a £1,000 scholarship for nurses to improve their care for children in the community.
The focus of the scholarship will look at improving the way children with complex health needs and disabilities can be supported in the home.
Those taking part will be expected to write and present a paper on care for children in the community.
Linda Partridge, WellChild director of programmes, said: "WellChild and the ABPN share a common aim of advancing the field of children’s and young people’s nurses. Through this joint nursing scholarship we hope to further this shared aim."
WellChild specialises in funding nurses for children with health problems to be cared for at home. It has been running a lobbying campaign called the Better at Home Campaign, calling for better support for children with long-term conditions to be treated at home.
The deadline for applications is 10 September.
