Opinion: If I were in charge of Alcohol - Joe, 13, Nottingham

By , Tuesday 20 June 2006

I wouldn't ban it everywhere but I'd certainly ban most of the high alcohol drinks. I'd probably ban vodka and stuff and ban pubs serving anyone having more than three drinks, depending on what it is.

I'd definitely encourage selling root beer and stuff that'snon-alcoholic but tastes like it in a way. I'd have more non-alcoholicdrinks in pubs.

I'd probably put up the price. Then people would say: "It's a bit tooexpensive, I don't really want to buy it". If it was a bit moreexpensive then people are more likely to have just one or twodrinks.

If you drink, your family's going to lose you and that makes it hard forthem. They get depressed and then they might start drinking too. I don'tthink the Government has done enough because people complain aboutalcohol levels and behaviour problems but pubs are staying open evenlater at night. And they still let you get drinks with alcohol contentof 80 per cent.

I think alcohol should only be sold in supermarkets and pubs and not innewsagents and places like that. I would let pubs open to 3am, but theycould only sell alcohol 'til about 11pm.
