Information sharing: Housing database is not being used

By , Tuesday 25 October 2005

Local authority housing departments are failing to use an information-sharing database that was introduced last year in response to Victoria Climbie's death.

Children's lives could be at risk because a third of London housingdepartments have not submitted any information to the Notify database,it emerged this week.

The database was launched in May 2004 by the Greater LondonAuthority.

It is supposed to be used by London's housing departments to shareinformation about homeless families with education, health and socialservices.

London Mayor Ken Livingstone urged the remaining boroughs to use thesystem: "This is essential to ensure that some of London's mostvulnerable families do not fall through the net."
